Opel to release 2012 Insignia with improved engines
Saturday, August 20th, 2011According to recent official reports from Opel, the brand new 2012 Insignia will roll out with the top-of-the-line turbocharged 1.4 ecoFLEX engine, an optional turbocharged 2.0 petrol engine, and a new Start/Stop feature.
The 2012 Insignia keeps the same exterior features but will have a beautiful “Luxor” metallic finish and a brand new set of alloy wheels. For the car’s interiors, the 2012 Insignia will be released with an impressive “Indian Night” Nappa leather seat finish, an enhanced front camera feature that comes with the Forward Collision Alert feature, and two infotainment systems namely the Navi 900 Europa and the Navi 600.
Under the hood is a replacement for the former 1.8 liter engine. The 2012 Insignia with have the turbocharged 1.4 liter ecoFLEX engine with 140 PS and 200Nm of torque attached to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The new engine accelerates at 0 to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds with a top speed of 205 km/h. For the optional turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine, figures are at 250 PS and 400Nm of torque with the same 6-speed manual gearbox that accelerates the car at 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h. The average fuel consumption for the 2012 Insignia is – 8.4 liters per 100 km and 197 g/km of CO2.
Word is, another engine—a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 200PS—will be available for the FWD feature and a 6-speed manual gearbox. Not only that, it will also come with an advanced fuel-saving system along with resistance-enhanced tires and improved aerodynamics features.
